Photo Club 2025
This year I happened about a group post about a local camera club and it seemed to be exactly what I’d been looking for. I’d gone along to camera club meetings of various guises before but there was something not quite right about each for me, they’d be on an awkward night or had, for me, the wrong emphasis. But we went along to this local club and it was great!
One monthly meet in a pub with a strong repeating agenda, a WhatsApp group chat. We’d have a presentation from a member, then we’d look at photos we’d all submitted under a theme, discuss theme, vote on them and have a top 3. This would then get reported in a newsletter and the winner would pick the next month’s theme :)
Simple, but effective and I’ve kept on going back - finding it a great rhythm for me. A theme per month has helped me keep something in the back of my mind to look out for when out with a camera (or a phone).
We’ve had wonderful presentations from amazing trips, discussion about lenses and all sorts. It’s a lovely little group and I wanted to share my submissions for this year and commemorate thr fact that after having placed well a few times, this month I won! (As is typical this is the first month I haven’t been able to attend…)
